MES validation for Werum PAS-X, Siemens Opcenter, Rockwell and Körber.
Recipes, EBR, weigh & dispense, deviation management — validated with a real ICH Q9 lens and a mobile-first execution workflow.

MES validation covers electronic batch records, recipe management, process enforcement and the equipment and automation interfaces beneath them. Because an MES directly controls manufacturing execution, requirements affecting batch integrity and product quality carry high risk and attract scripted testing, while reporting and convenience functions generally do not.
Outcomes you can expect
- MES scope + recipe risk
- EBR + weigh/dispense validation
- Executed OQ/PQ evidence
MES Validation is delivered by our validation & compliance services practice. Where it saves time, the team uses our products: GxP Copilot for validation lifecycle work and TraceDraft for clinical documentation.

MES in GMP Manufacturing: Where Validation Risk Is Highest
Manufacturing Execution Systems are the most GxP-critical computerised systems in pharmaceutical manufacturing because they directly control and record the manufacturing process. The electronic batch record generated by a MES is a primary GMP record — it is the electronic equivalent of the paper batch record that has historically been the primary evidence of GMP compliance during a product release decision and an FDA inspection. MES validation scope must address this criticality: the validation package for an EBR system must be proportionate to the regulatory risk it manages.
The highest-risk MES functions are those that directly affect product quality: recipe execution (are manufacturing steps executed in the correct sequence, with the correct parameters, and with all steps requiring completion before the next begins?); weigh and dispense (is the correct quantity of the correct material issued to the batch, with all checks performed and documented?); deviation management (are process parameter excursions detected, documented, and routed for investigation before the batch can be released?); and label management (does the system prevent issuance of incorrect labels for a given batch?).
Electronic Batch Record Validation: Recipe and EBR Workflow
EBR validation is both a system validation and a content validation. The MES application and its configuration must be qualified through IQ/OQ/PQ. But each manufacturing recipe implemented in the MES must also be verified as a content validation: does the recipe correctly implement the master batch record's steps, sequence, parameters, and controls? A qualified MES running an incorrectly implemented recipe is not in a compliant state.
Our MES validation approach separates system qualification from recipe verification: the system qualification covers the MES application, its integrations, and the platform-level GxP controls; recipe verification covers the specific manufacturing recipes, their parameters, their in-process check logic, and their deviation management triggers. This approach ensures that both the platform and the content it runs are validated to the appropriate standard, and that recipe changes are managed through change control as content changes rather than system changes.
